Tyler County Booster - December 2009
Tyler County Hospital Foundation met at the local hospital Tuesday, November 17,2009. The Foundation voted to make the final payment March, 2010, ahead of schedule, on the hospital’s new fluoroscopic x-ray equipment. The Foundation also voted to match hospital funds to help two new doctors relocate in Woodville. Dr. Raymond Adedapo will begin practice in December 2009. Dr. Kevin Farris will begin in February, 2010. Both doctors will join the staff of Tyler County Hospital Family Medical Clinic. Dr. Sandra Wright, CEO of TCH, reported that the hospital has received a $551,000 social service block grant from DETCOG (Deep East Texas Council of Government). The grant will be used for community health screening and community health education for diabetes, hypertension, and strokes. It will also fund scholarships for two students in TCH’s Licensed Vocational Nursing School. In addition, funds from the grant will buy bariatric equipment for the hospital and a large generator and new washer and dryer for the hospital laundry. The membership drive for the Foundation takes place in November and December, 2009, and January, 2010. Tyler County Foundation was established in 2002 with 501(c)3 status. Since its inception some 240 contributors have given over $1.4 million to support the local hospital’s capital improvements and expansion of medical services.
