Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team makes Drug Bust
Tyler County Booster
The “War on Drugs” is a never ending battle, even in Tyler County, but thanks to the work of Tyler County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, there are fewer drugs on the street. SWAT team members arrested three individuals December 1 after executing a search warrant in Hillister. Officers seized 106 grams of cocaine and over two pounds of marijuana in the residence at 7773 US69, an arrest and seizure, according to Tyler County Sheriff David Hennigan, that came as a direct result of an investigation conducted by Sergeant Jeffery Mashaw. Mashaw is the department’s first dedicated narcotics officer, and was assisted by Deputy Jerry Laurent. Mashaw is definitely making progress on the drug problem. He has been operating for less than a month, and already netted three felony drug cases, with the Hillister bust making four. In the Hillister bust, Kenneth Johnson, Courtney Johnson and Erica Shaunfield were arrested. All three have bonds totalling $60,000 each. “Chief Deputy Sturrock and I witnessed the execution of this warrant,” Hennigan said, “and these men performed their jobs with the utmost courage and professionalism. The SWAT team is also know as “The Wolf Pack,” and is comprised of both Sheriff’s Office deputies and Woodville PD officers.” |
