30 Day Burn Ban In Effect
Tyler County Booster - February 2009
At a Special Meeting of the Tyler County Commissioners
Court and by a unanimous decision on a motion by Commissioner Mike Marshall the Court approved a thirty (30) day Burn Ban for Tyler County. This ban will go into effect at 2 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2009 and continues for 30 days or until conditions improve at which time a lifting of the ban will be announced, according to Tyler County Judge Jacques L. Blanchette.
This ban will allow for certain controlled burns within the county by a certified burn manager prescribed under Section 153.048 Natural Resources Section 153.047 Natural Resources Code. Individuals
or companies operating out of the scope of this order are subject to charges of a Class C Misdemeanor, a fine and community service.
Requests by certified bum managers may be made through the county judge or commissioners’ offices. Signs are being placed throughout the county to inform citizens of this restriction and will be removed
once the ban is lifted, Blanchette said.
While a brief rain storm early Monday morning was welcome, the county remains extremely dry. Combined with days of frequent gusty winds, the danger of spreading wild fires remains significant.
