Celebrate Mardi Gras in Tyler County?
Tyler County Booster - February 2009

So you think Tyler County isn’t the Mardi Gras Capital of the world? Maybe not. But Saturday, February 21, Tyler County Relay for Life plans to turn downtown Woodville into Mardi Gras Central for a day of fun and excitement. The Relay for Life folks have put together a Mardi Gras Celebration & Gumbo Cookoff, and everyone is invited to attend. The event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on the Courthouse Square in Woodville. A big Mardi Gras Parade will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a Mardi Gras Ball at the Rodeo Arena at 10 p.m. All the Relay for Life teams have been urged to set up booths selling all kinds of stuff! Look for a carnival atmosphere, with things to do and buy. The Gumbo cookoff will give gumbo lovers a chance to sample a variety of Gumbo from various competitors for not much money, and give the teams a chance to earn some money for Relay for Life. Sounds like a lot of fun and a great way for the family to spend a Saturday evening. Don’t miss the fun!
