Martin Luther King Day Celebration planning underway
Tyler County Booster - January 2010
Entering the 9th year of this Celebration and as we give tributes and honors to Dr. King; I am hoping that we have touched the hearts and minds of All People. Today’s generation and those to come will rejoice in this legacy of Dr. King and keep it “Alive”. The life he lived, the life he gave, opened many doors. He was considered a forerunner for justice and non-violence. Dr. King worked tirelessly for the betterment of his people, teaching tolerance and understanding in all parts of the world. Sure this annual parade and program are worthy of the time and efforts set forth to honor this martyr Dr. Martin Luther King. Dr. King was a leader who suffered imprisonment and was even stabbed as he worked toward securing voting rights for African Americans, a great task for Dr. King. He never complained, nor negatively stated any misgivings about any situation; his dreams were focused on a “Better Tomorrow”. His works will remain in our hearts. Preparing for this special occasion we do hope all citizens, organizations, businesses, churches, Tyler County schools, including their bands, cheerleaders and drill teams, will be with us. We want you to help make this celebration one of the best. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. from the Woodville City Park, moving on to the Kirby Gymnasium. Program participants and programs will be made available later. We need to hear from participating choirs as soon as possible.
