Warren Community Bank robbed at gunpoint
Tyler County Booster - January 2010
February 29—Successful bank robberies are rare in Tyler County. In fact, Tyler County Chief Deputy Clint Sturrock said that in his 18 years with the department, he has never worked one. That streak ended Monday when two men walked into Community Bank in Warren with guns and left with money from the cash drawers. Sturrock said that at approximately 10 a.m. Monday two black males, both displaying handguns, entered the bank. They were wearing dark clothing and hoods. They demanded that the two employees working at the time give them the money in the cash drawers, then ordered the employees to the back of the bank before fleeing. According to Sturrock, the two were in a vehicle, later found abandoned in Warren, that was stolen from the Houston area. He said that a countywide search for the men was still going on, but if the men were not local, they probably were no longer in the area. The FBI, Texas Rangers, Sheriff’s department and other agencies were all involved in the search for the men.
