After several months of investigation, a Tyler County Grand Jury on the on June 21 indicted Paul Frederick Price, age 22 of Woodville with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. The indictment was the result of an assault incident that occurred in October of 2011. Jathan Borel of the Woodville Police Department had been investigating the case since its occurrence in an effort to bring justice to the assault victim. After eight months, the assailant is finally behind bars. The case was initially investigated on October 24, 2011 when Sgt. Borel was called to the Tyler County Hospital in reference to an assault victim that was being treated there. Witnesses at the hospital stated that the victim, identified as Kenneth Wayne Williams, age 39 of Woodville, had suffered a head injury after being involved in a fight the night before in the 200th block of East Live Oak Street in Woodville. According to reports, the fight had occurred the evening before at a get together in the yard of a home. The victim had tried to intervene in a fight between a man and a woman who had begun arguing. At that point, he was hit several times in the face and was knocked unconscious. Witnesses stated that Williams woke back up and was able to leave the scene with help from a friend, and later the next day decided to go into the emergency room. Williams was transferred to Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston and admitted in ICU with a severe head injury. “Sergeant Borel’s investigation was very difficult,” said Captain Mike Mc- Culley. “Many witnesses didn’t want to get involved because of the nature of the assault, and it took a lot of time to get everyone to come forward.” Price was arrested the next day for the charge and is currently in the Tyler County Jail under a $50,000 bond. Williams family said that he spent several weeks in Hermann Memorial in ICU and is now permanently disabled as a result of the head injury. He is currently undergoing physical therapy for his paralysis and memory loss.
