Old Fashion Fourth of July Celebration with Fire Works!
Tyler County Booster - June 2009

Everyone is invited to the First Old Fashion Fourth of July Celebration to be held on July 4th, 2009 at the Heritage Village. Gates open at 4 pm, Fireworks at 9 pm to close the event. Entrance to the event is free to the public. The Art League will be hosting a children’s parade. Registration from 4 pm until 4:45 pm in front of the Ham House, located in the parking lot at the Heritage Village. Parking will be available for parents bringing children and their bikes, etc. Parade to begin at 5 pm with judging to follow. Children bring your decorated bicycles, tricycles, wagons, scooters, and strollers. “No Motorized entries”. Parents and guardians are welcome to accompany smaller entrants. The parade will begin in the parking lot and travel down the main street in the Village. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded for best, originality, spectator’s award and others. If you have any question please contact the Art League (409) 283-2788. Other contests that will have prizes and no entry fees include: Pie baking contest. So all you great South East Texas cooks polish up your pie baking skills and call the village (409) 283-2272. Calling all Tyler County Quilters! Sassy Scrappers are asking for 12 X 12 Quilt Blocks with a Fourth of July Celebration theme. Winner takes all the blocks. What a great quilt that will be. There will be children’s activities including Face Painting by Nancy Bodden. The Police Dept. will have a special presentation for the children. Dunk Tank provided by “Project Graduation Chester High School”.

Food vendors will Include:
Terry’s BBQ/Chester, Lemonade Stand by St. Paul’s Men’s Group, Cakes by Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church sold by the slice and whole, Carmel Apples by the Woodville United Pentecostal Church, Snow Cones by the First Baptist Church, Peanut Brittle by the Lakeside Apostolic Church Spurger, Watermelon to be determined.

Music throughout the day by the following local Artists:
Alvin Perry and the Knott brothers, Josh McClure, Mattie Fortenberry, Stephen Gehring, Matt Moody, Carol Spencer and Margie Fortenberry. The event is sponsored by The Tyler County Heritage Society, Tyler County, City of Woodville, Chamber of Commerce, Tyler County Art League, Woodville Police Department, Tyler County Sheriff’s Department and Woodville Fire Department.
