2011 Relay For Life Preps Begin

Tyler County Booster

It’s Time to start getting ready for the 2011 Tyler County Relay for Life. It’s Scheduled for April 29, 2011 at Woodville High School Football Field. It’s called “TYLER COUNTY RELAY FOR LIFE” for a reason. It’s all about Tyler County, the people, the entertainment, the teams, the survivors. We need to work together to make this a countywide event, it’s not just Woodville, or Warren, or Colmesneil. It’s about a community coming together to help find a cure for this terrible disease. The theme for this relay will be “United We Stand”. Tyler County will Stand United in its fight against cancer. We Invite everyone in Tyler County to join us for Relay 2011. For those new to the event, I would like take this time to explain a few of the wonderful things about relay. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in Tyler County and across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people will camp out at Woodville High School Football Field and take turns walking or running around the track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays Begins at 6 P.M. and ends at 6 A.M., because cancer never sleeps. Anyone can participate in Relay For Life. Friends, families, neighbors, classmates, sports teams, etc., can form their own teams. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you at Relay. The only requirement to participate in Relay For Life is the $10 registration/commitment fee (per person) that is due upon registration. After that, anything you can raise through individual, team, or online fundraising is graciously accepted. It is recommended that each participant set a personal goal to raise $100. If you raise more, that’s even better. Even if you do not raise $100, you are still welcome to participate. Relay For Life is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a lifechanging experience. At Relay, every person in Tyler County has a chance to celebrate, remember, and fight back. And every person who participates joins others around the globe as part of this worldwide movement to end cancer.
