Booster website takes top award in TGCPA newspaper contest

The Booster was honored this past weekend , winning the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association first place award for Best Newspaper Website, at the annual convention held in Port Aransas. “Tyler County is so blessed to have Jim Powers, the Booster editor, to create and maintain this site,” said Kelli Barnes, Booster manager. “His expertise and willingness to do this for our community is something we could never afford normally.” Powers built the site from the ground up and he continues to make modifications weekly, for an even more user friendly experience. New Booster website salesman, Bryan Gay, is meeting with area businesses, offering an opportunity to advertise on this award winning site. The Booster also won three, third place awards for: display advertising, the Discover Magazine special edition and news photos. In addition to the Booster awards, two sister papers in Polk County Publishing Company also won. San Jacinto News times took home second place for feature writing and first place in news writing. Polk County Enterprise was awarded second place for headline writing and second place in the Ferris Block Community Service category for their work throughout the year supporting CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)
