Spring sex offender check leads to arrest

In the spring, Tyler County Sheriff ’s Office along with the US Marshall’s Service and the Texas Department of Public Safety conducted a county-wide ‘Sex Offender Compliance Check’. All sex offenders registered in Tyler County were subject to the check, and a total of 51 persons were the targets of this operation. Forty-two were contacted that day and eight of the 42 were not in compliance and charges were pending. Thomas Anthony Snowden, 42, of Woodville was one of the violators and was arrested by special crimes unit of Tyler County DPS on May 29 for not notifying authorities of a change of address as required by a sex offenders duty to register for life. Bond was set for 10,000.
