Pay those unpaid fines by March 19 or face jail time
Tyler County Booster
The city of Woodville municipal court sent letters recently to all persons with unpaid fines, giving them an opportunity to pay off their debt before being arrested March 19. According to Judge Judith Haney, this is the third year the city of Woodville has participated in the statewide Warrant Round-up. “When we started this a few years ago, over one million dollars in fines were owed to the city of Woodville,” Haney said. “We have put a dent in that amount with the cooperation of city and county officers and having the availability of the county jail.” Officials believe the real threat of jail time is causing people to get these fines paid. If an individual needs to pay a fine, they can stop by the city of Woodville office located at 400 W. Bluff in Woodville, to make payments to the court clerk before the March 19 deadline. Judge Haney also said individuals can go online to www.txsurchargeonline. com for information about qualifying for amnesty on surcharges added to fines involving a suspended drivers license. “The surcharge amnesty is only offered through April 17, 2011 and applications will only be accepted through April 7, 2011”, said Haney. A simple application is available online at www. txsurchargeonline.com/ AmnestyMain.aspx or by calling 1-877-207-3170. |
