Tyler County Booster - May 2009
By all accounts, the turnout for City and School Boards elections around the county Saturday were very good. All results are unofficial until canvassed by city or school board officials. In the Woodville City Election, Place 1 had Tony Castillo running against incumbent Paula Jones. Castillo won the race with 175 votes to Jones’ 97.
Place 3, currently held by Keith Fuller is did not run for reelection, had Caleb Spurlock running against Donald Coleman. Spurlock won the seat, polling 204 votes to Coleman’s 80. Byron Stowe ran unopposed for reelection to Place 5. In the Colmesneil City race, incumbent Mayor Don Baird was reelected. Two open seats were won by Duane Crews and Charlie Branch. Colmesneil ISD had two contested seats.
In the first, Jim Carlton polled 117 votes to win over Bob Rawls with 80 votes. In the second, Twyla Darder received 116 votes to win over Carina Dobbins 72 votes. Brenda Cutrer was elected to fill a second unexpired term. In the Woodville ISD election, Ted Watts won the Position 3 seat with 192 votes to Johnny Hensarling’s 82 votes. |
