Lady Warriors face Kirbyville in Jasper
Tyler County Booster - May 2009
As champions of District 23-2A, the Warren Lady Warriors will be facing the Kirbyville Lady Wildcats in a Region 3 Area Championship series this week in Jasper. The Lady Warriors received a Bi-District round bye of the 2009 UIL state playoffs as a result of their conference title. The format for the series is a best-of-three games. The Lady Wildcats, runners-up in District 22-2A, survived a bi-district series with Buffalo last week. The Kirbyville girls won the first of three games, lost the second and came back with a 5-2 win in the third and deciding game. The Lady Warriors are truly a ‘road team’ having played all of their 2009 season games on turf other than their own and, hopefully for Warren fans, their road success will continue this week. The first game of the Jasper series will be Wednesday night at 6:00 PM. Game two is set for 6:00 PM on Friday night and a third game, if necessary, would start thirty minutes after the completion of game two. With a win in the series, the Lady Warriors will advance to the Region 3 Quarterfinals where they would face the winner of a single game Area championship between Deweyville and Centerville. That game will be played this Thursday night in Huntington at 6:30 PM.
