Sheriff’s Office, Forest Service Offer Rewards To Name Arsonists

Tyler County Booster

In conjunction with the Texas Forest Service, the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office is adding additional reward funds for information leading to the arrest(s) and grand jury indictment of the individual(s) responsible for setting arson fires in the Colmesneil area. The Forest Service is offering up to $2,000, and Sheriff David Hennigan has authorized an additional $3,000 from the Sheriff’s Forfeiture Fund. The Sheriff’s Forfeiture Fund is completely funded through court ordered seized funds or assets related to criminal activities (no tax dollars), and can only be utilized at the sole discretion of the Sheriff for official law enforcement related activities, such as paying informants for information on criminal activities. “It is our sincere desires to see those responsible for the arson fires set in our county receive justice, and for that reason we are upping the reward total to $5,000 upon a grand jury indictment. I have spoken with Judge Blanchette, Commissioner Marshall and the DA’s Office concerning this matter, and along with the other members of Commissioner’s Court, we are in full agreement this is the best course of action to apprehend these criminals,” stated Sheriff Hennigan.
