‘Teamwork’ is working in Tyler County

Tyler County Booster

Teamwork, a reorganization of the Entergy Team City program, has continued to pick up momentum in Tyler County. The group, led by Entergy representative Mic Cowart, has organized the group into “action committees.” “Each of the five committees are going to the movers and shakers in Tyler County and asking them what needs to be done to help Tyler County move ahead,” Cowart said. “We are rolling up our sleeves and offering help to those in a position to make exceptional things happen. Our teams include Quality of Life, Employment Development/ Business Retention, Tourism, Image and Grant Research.” Following is an update on committee activities. Employment Development/ Business Retention: They recently held a meeting with Tyler County Board of Realtors, and also met with local investors. Currently, the committee is creating an Enterprise Zone and an updated informational packet for prospective employers as requested by the investors. Tourism: They held a meeting with the Corps of Engineers manager to discuss a partnership to increase the use of the park system in conjunction with Tyler County events. The committee also completed beautiful triangular tabletop brochures outlining upcoming events. They are displayed in area restaurants and will be replaced quarterly with new/current information. The information is also being included in the Tyler County Chamber newspaper advertisement to keep everyone informed of all upcoming activitie within the county. In addition, they met with the Tyler County Booster about partnering on a promotional piece for local businesses to give away to visitors/tourists when they travel through the area or make plans to vacation here. Image: This group is reviewing surveys and formulating feedback assumptions. They have also been reviewing how to best identify websites for improving the image of Tyler County. Quality of Life: They are working together with the Art District in downtown Woodville who continues to make a tremendous impact helping to bring theater, art, music and lessons to the county. The committee is also planning an anti-drug program for school districts within the county.
