Tyler County Booster
A recognition party for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program was held Friday at the Senior Center. Volunteers served all over Tyler County in the past year. They make and stuff pillows for the Veterans Hospital in Houston and make pillows for the hospital in Lufkin and nursing homes in Angelina and Tyler Counties. The Volunteers also assist in the Senior Center by serving meals and holding bingo games. Elijah’s provided food for a brunch, and with Subway, Jack In The Box, Brookshire Bros, WalMart, Dairy Queen, and Jarrot’s Pharmacy, donated prizes for the event. James White, newly elected State Representative, also attended the recognition. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program is a division of the Senior Corps Program sponsored by DETCOG. Director Pam Dunn, Area Coordinator Rosemary Frankens, and James White, State Representative, thanked the volunteers for their willingness to serve. |
