Have a safe and merry Christmas season
Tyler County Booster
During the upcoming Christmas holidays, residents will be shopping, loading and unloading gifts and getting ready for the season. Woodville Police Department cautions residents to be aware of your surroundings and take extra precaution. “Lock your vehicles, keep valuables in the trunk or at least out of sight,” said police captain Mike McCulley. “It is also a good idea to change up your routine from time to time.” Local merchants also need to be aware during the holidays to take measures to ensure stores are safe. “Make sure you have an employee with a direct visual of each of the exits and do not leave merchandise that is easy to grab near the exits,” said McCulley. “It is also a good idea to take the time to actually see the customers identificaton when they are writing checks or using credit cards.” McCulley also said most everyone appreciates ID’s being checked because it protects everyone and although no one wants to feel “stalked” while shopping, it is okay for employees to be aware of the body language and demeanor of people in the store. “In Beaumont, reports have been made of “Flash Mobs” entering stores,” said McCulley. “This is a group of people entering a business at the same time in an attempt to distract employees and steal merchandise. If a merchant has this happen and feels uncomfortable, please call the police department and we will drive by to check things out. We want this to be a safe and Merry Christmas for everyone.” |
