Flag Gets Top Billing at Vet’s Day Event
Tyler County Booster - October 2009
Members of FVW Post 2033 will conduct
the official Flag Ceremony as a highlight of the Veterans Day celebration scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at the Woodville ISD Summit. Program activities for the day begin with registration at 9:30 A.M., followed by a program at 10:00 A.M. and lunch for all veterans and their spouses. Families of active-duty military personnel are also encouraged to attend the event and join the luncheon.
The annual Veterans Day event is co-sponsored by VFW, American Legion, Woman’s Reading Club and Woodville ISD. The program features a Processional and Roll Call of veterans, band and choir performances, recognition of student art contest winners, a patriotic video, the POW/MIA ceremony, and a slide show tribute to local veterans and those in active-duty. The official Flag ceremony will highlight the symbolic meaning for each of the 13 steps followed to correctly fold our country’s colors. Students and other guests will be reminded of the historical significance of the Flag and of those to be honored for their service to our country.
