Tyler County Chamber Of Commerce
President As we approach the fourth quarter of 2009, the Tyler County Chamber of Commerce is in very good shape. Since the reorganization, our membership has grown and remained loyal. The 2009 Board of Directors elected last fall by sealed ballots has stepped up to the task of promoting and supporting Tyler County businesses. Those serving as Chamber Directors are Dr. Brian Babin, Kelli Barnes, Amy Bythewood, Jimmie Cooley, Kathy Fetner, Steve Havis, Lois Henderson, Eleanor Holderman, Sharon Miller, Billie Ratcliff, and Fred Sullivan. Each board member committed to take on a leadership role and much has been accomplished.
At this time the Chamber is participating in DETCOG and Team City meetings and distributing first class tote bags filled with gifts from area merchants to newcomers and new teachers at area schools. The board is staying within a budget adopted in January, 2009 which will leave us with some surplus at year end. We played a major role in the Leadership of Southeast Texas (LSET) annual meeting held here in August and worked with area representatives bringing the Bio Mass plant to Tyler County. Some future projects are sponsoring Christmas in Tyler County with Judith Haney and Leeza Blanchette as Chair and Co-Chair and taking bids in September for the exterior painting of the Chamber of Commerce building.
We are seeing increasing interest in our county through our web site, telephone inquiries and visitors to the Chamber office. These accomplishments are due in large part to the strong support of our membership for which the Board is very grateful.
