Team City Is Now Teamwork Tyler County

Tyler County Booster

Signaling a new spirit of unity in Tyler County, Entergy Texas’ Team City community and economic development committee is being renamed Teamwork Tyler County and will be reaching out to all of the county’s communities to join the effort to help the area grow and prosper. County Judge Jacques Blanchette, who attended the Team City meeting where participants agreed that the new name was appropriate, said he strongly supported the change. “In today’s challenging economic times, teamwork is critical if we’re going to be successful,” Blanchette said. He commended Entergy Texas, Inc. for starting the Team City program more than a dozen years ago and for suggesting the change to Teamwork. Kim McMurray, Entergy Texas’ community development manager, will be the liaison between the Tyler County group and the company, working closely with Mic Cowart, the customer service manager for Tyler County. Cowart will chair the group’s meetings and McMurray will provide professional support. A steering committee will be named to help guide the organization. “Entergy Texas’ economic development group has many resources that can help communities and counties achieve their goals,” Colmesneil city secretary Carrie Edwards told the Team City group during the discussion. “We all agree that we want to help our county grow, a better quality of life.” So far, Woodville and Colmesneil have been the most active communities in the Team City / Teamwork group. A top priority will be to educate smaller communities about the value of getting involved in Teamwork Tyler County. The Teamwork participants will identify projects they want to work on. Entergy Texas’ economic development group has two full-time professionals who work to identify and recruit companies to locate in this region. Entergy also has numerous research tools to help communities. A priority for the new Teamwork group will be to update the Tyler County profile that provides a snapshot of what the area has to offer. One of the Entergy’s newest tools is its buildings and sites data base that lists available properties for prospects looking to locate in the area. Thanks mainly to local realtors, Tyler County has added several listings to the database since it went online. The Entergy Texas site can be found at www. txsiteselection.com
