Colmesneil ISD board reports on roof replacement project completion

Tyler County Booster

by Emily Waldrep Colmesneil held its monthly school board meeting for July and updated members and guests in attendance about the roof construction projects, voting dates, and recent resignations and hiring. The board made a small budget line item adjustment and moved some funds into the roofing budget. Last school year, Colmesneil experienced many problems with a number of the roofs on campus and struggled with various leaks and weak spots. Since then, all of the roofs that were damaged were replaced. The construction recently finished up with the completion of the AG Shop roof, and Superintendent Ackley expects these new roofs will last up to 30 years. “This will finish our project to fix the roofs of the elementary, cafeteria, administration, the bus shop, field house, AG shop and the old gym,” says Superintendent Ackley. “These are new roofs, not patches, so we expect them to last a very long time.” In other orders of business, the board election date was set for November 6 and will be held with the county. The board also accepted the resignations of Allison Davis, Rene Brown and Stephen McCullough. Colmesneil welcomed their new fifth and sixth grade history teacher, Jenice Kerr, two new AG teachers, Katy Mouton and John Holland, a new High School Mathematics teach, Maria Wilcox and a new Health and P.E coach, Jacob Hooker. The next board meeting will be held on August 21, 2012 in the administration building at 7:00p.m. SBA drought-related loans now available for agricultural businesses in Tyler County By Tyler County Judge Jacques Blancette The office of the County Judge has been advised by the State Department of Public Services under the office of Emergency Management that Tyler County now qualifies for small business administration loans to businesses affected by the drought who have agriculture related identifications.
