City received highest rating on audit
CORRIGAN -- The Corrigan City Council was informed that the city received an unquali-fi ed opinion on the 2011 Fiscal Year Audit. The opinion is the highest ranking that a city can receive.Darla Dear, of Belt Harris and Pechacek LLC presented the report to the council and it was approved.Council member Johnna Lowe was voted by the council to be mayor pro-tem. The vote was 3-1 with Council member George Murphy opposing. The council approved the re-appointment of Municipal Court Judge Wayne Yankie and Municipal Court Clerk Char-lotte Helm.Terry Black, of Alto, was approved by the council to be awarded the bid of the sewer project on Hwy 59 North/Plant Road.Sonny Hubbard of Pro-Star Waste made a presentation to the council concerning their sanitation services. Hubbard expressed to the council that he just wanted to introduce their service and give the council something to think about. No 2action was taken. The action item to approve bids received for city property located on Martin Luther King Drive was tables until a later time. The fi nancial statement for Mar 2012 and minutes from previous meetings were ap-proved. In the city manager’s report, Eva Perry informed the council that the Corrigan Community Service League has a Commu-nity History Day and the day was a complete success. According to Perry, there were hundreds of items that were available to the public. There was also a presentation at the Mickey Reily Public Li-brary on how to preserve the history on the new KIOSKIn executive session, the council voted 3-1 to fi re city at-torney Tommy Deaton. Council member George Murphy voted against. The council held a special called meeting Tuesday night to hire a new attorney.
