Early voting begins Monday(
CORRIGAN — Early voting by personal appearance begins Monday for the Republican and Democratic runoff elections.One local race is on the bal-lot with Todd Miller and Leslie Jones Burks seeking the nomi-nation for Polk County Tax As-sessor-Collector. The winner will not face an opponent in the November general election.The Republicans have run-offs in three statewide races:Warren Chisum and Christi Craddick are seeking the GOP nomination for Railroad Com-missioner.Barry Smitherman and Greg Parker are competing for the nomination for an unexpired term on the commission.The nomination for Place 4 Justice on the Texas Supreme Court will be decided be-tween David Medina and John Devine.The free for all Federal races have fi nally come down to a couple of choices.The newly created U.S. Rep-See C.HAPPENINGS page 4resentative, District 36 nomina-tion will be decided between Steve Stockman and Stephen Takach.The U.S. Senate nomination is between David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz.Democrats have one state-wide runoff race for U.S. Sen-ate between Paul Sadler and Grady Yarbrough.Voters can cast early votes by personal appearance July 23 to 27.
