Corrigan man charged with sexual assault

LUFKIN — A Corrigan man has been charged with second degree indecency with a child and fi rst degree aggravated sexual assault of a child. Benito Acevedo, of Corrigan was arrested June 1 and booked into the Angelina County Jail. He was released after he posted a $100,000 bond. According to an arrest affi davit the victim recently told her grandmother that she had been sexually assaulted by the suspect. The affi davit reported separate alleged incidents when she claimed Acevedo inappropriately touched her. In an interview conducted by a counselor at the Children’s Alliance Center, a child advocacy group, the victim stated that when she was about 10 when the suspect touched her. In the interview, the girl also stated that Acevedo forced her to perform sexual acts on him when she around the age of 5.
