Corrigan-Camden High School has new teachers


CORRIGAN -- The Corrigan-Camden High School has several new teach-ers for the 2012-2013 school year. Listed below are the new teachers names and informa-tion about them and the subject they will be teaching.David SnyderSnyder is the new Corrigan-Camden High School Assi-satant Principal for the 2012-2013 school year. Candy AscensioCandy Ascensio graduated from Corrigan-Camden High School in 1997 and at the same time graduated from Academy of Hair Design in which she re-ceived a Cosmetology license. She has previously worked for C-CISD and Polk County special services and then left to work for Lockhead Martin for seven years as a Sr. qual-ity inspector. Now she is cur-rently working at the Corrigan-Camden High School offi ce as a receptionist.Jonathan WillsonJonathan Willson is a recent graduate of Texas A&M Uni-versity-Commerce. He studied under Dr. Todd Gorsan as a saxophone player in the band.He is currently the band di-rector at C-CHS. He is married and enjoys spending time with his wife.Dallas WillisDallas Willis went to Barbers Hill and Crosby High School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University.She is currently the agricul-ture teacher at C-CHS.She is married to Brian Willis and currently lives in Burke.Anna ColwellAnna Colwell was born, raised and still resides in Lufkin. She graduated in May 2006 from Stephen F. Austin State University with her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture ma-joring in Agri business and mi-noring in general business. In December 2008, she re-ceived her Master of Agricul-ture where she specialized in instructional design from Texas A&M University for 2 years prior going into teaching.She worked at Angelina Col-lege in the offi ce as a learning lab technician. In her spare time Anna enjoys riding horses, raising cattle, deer hunting and working on arts and crafts proj-ects.She is teaching Science and Agriculture.Herlinda VillarrealHerlinda Villarreal is teach-ing Spanish this school year.She is a 2004 graduate of Corrigan Camden High school. She states that she is very ex-cited to be back in her old high school.Villarreal graduated in De-cember 2011, from Sam Hous-ton State University with a bachelors degree in psychol-ogy, It will be her fi rst year teaching.Coner HerterichConer Herterich was born n Monterey California on Octo-ber 2, 1988.He graduated at Hallsville High School in 2007 and Ste-phen F. Austin State University in 2011 in B.A History. He will be teaching 10th grade World History at Corrigan-Camden High School. His hobbies are playing socburglariescer, watching sports, reading and music. Douglass Gerrard Gerrard began his teaching career several years ago on the facilities of The University of Minnesota, where he became an associate professor of forest-ry before pursuing interests in the implantable medical device industry. After retiring from Cyberon-ics, Inc of Houston Texas, he decided to return to his aca-demics and became certifi ed as a high school mathematics teacher. He has spent the last four years teaching high school math here in East Texas.Brandi McGowan Brandi Small McGowan was recently married.She comes from teaching/coaching at Copperas Cove Jr. high. She graduated from Teague High School and let-tered in volleyball, basketball, track and cheerleading. She attended Texas A&M Commerce from 2004-2007 played volleyball in 2006. She graduated with a degree in Ki-nesiology. She has been coaching vol-leyball for over six years. She has worked and administered all-star volleyball camps from 7th-12th grade.McGowan will be the head volleyball coach for Corrigan and will also coach basketball and track.Heather WhitcombWhitcomb is originally from Topeka, Kansas.She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Missouri in elementary education/health education.She went on to pursue a college coaching career at Angelina College.While assist-ing a AC she went on to receive her master’s in Kinesiolgy at Stephen F. Austin State Univer-sity. After spending two years at AC, she went into public education and coached volley-ball, basketball and softball at Diboll.She has now landed in Corrigan as the girl’s athletic director where she will be coaching volleyball, junior high basketball and softball.
