By Beverly Cockrell
It's that time again! Grab your boots, spurs, and cowboy hat and get to the annual Trinity-Neches FFA and 4-H Livestock Show and Rodeo which is set to begin on Monday, March 6. This year marks the 72nd anniversary of the traditional event which is favorite among most in the area. According to the Trinity-Neches Livestock Show website, the event has undergone changes since its debut in March 1945 and has proven successful. "The people who run the show have contributed in previous years to ensure this Polk County tradition in agricultural education continues," as stated on the website. In 1946, contestants from Corrigan began participating, which was the same year the show was moved to the fairgrounds on Highway 146 in Livingston. Students from all over the area participate in everything from stock showings to barbecu,e and cupcake judging and everyone's pick – the Sweetheart Contest. On Friday, March 10, the sale and Go-Texan Buyers' Dinner is held. Come out and support our schools and our students and let's make this the best show and rodeo yet.
