C-CISD classes postponed

The first day of classes was supposed to begin Tuesday, August 29, for Corrigan-Camden ISD students and staff. Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey had other plans. The historic deluge that pounded our part of the state prompted C-CISD officials to postpone the first day of school at all campuses until Tuesday, September 5. All C-CISD staff will report on Friday, September 1. C-CISD would like to thank all students, parents, staff and the community for their cooperation and patience during this extremely difficult and unusual time. C-CISD Superintendent Sherry Hughes took time out of her hectic schedule to comment on the recent events and on some positives at the district that will be seen this year. "Even though we are having an uncertain start, I am still looking forward to the upcoming school year. I strongly encourage parents and community members to partner with C-CISD to help make this year successful for all of our students. We have had great beginning of the year staff development with many staff members preparing all through the summer with trainings. We are all optimistic for a successful year. "We have made great strides in several areas such as our new website. I am extremely proud of our new site. The home page features a picture taken by our C-CISD drone which showcases our town in hopes of continuing to work on supporting our community - school connection. The site is still under construction and more features will be added soon. As well, the new Agricultural Sciences building is almost ready and we will host an open house in the near future, " said Mrs. Hughes. Be sure and check out the new C-CISD website www.corrigancamdenisd. net. A huge "thank you" to C-CISD's technology guru, Mr. Jared Torrez, Tim Burley, Mrs. Kathy Rushing, and summer intern, Thomas Casper. Their blood, sweat and tears has enable C-CISD to become one of the leading and most advanced technologically advanced school districts in this area. Remember to check the C-CISD website, C-CISD Facebook page and other media for updates and information concerning the district. Keep safe!
