C-CHS announces honor graduates

 

CORRIGAN -- The Corrigan- Camden High School recently announced the students graduating with honors for the Class of 2014 Listed below are the students names and biographies: Valedictorian Alexandria Smith is the valedictorian of the Class of 2014. She is the daughter of Wesley and Dawana Smith. Her extracurricular activities include UIL academics, national honor society, book club, Botball, Spanish club, National League of Junior Cotillion and Polk County 4-H. Her academic honors include District UIL Ready Writing, Ions Invitational Ready Writing, UIL Social Studies, Feature Writing and honor roll. She plans on attending Baylor University and majoring in Anthropology with a minor in Spanish. Salutatorian Thanh Le is the salutatorian and is the daughter is Stanley Ward and Minh Nguyen. Her extra curricular activities include softball, volleyball. NHS member, book club, student council, Spanish club, science UIL and current events. She is an A honor roll student. She plans on attending Baylor University and will major in Biology. Honor Graduates Jay Lawson is the son of Jason and Gloria Lawson. His extracurricular activities include football, baseball, fi shing, golf, powerlifting, class offi cer, president freshman year and vice president his sophomore year. He has been on the honor roll every year. He plans after high school to receive a degree in engineering at SFASU then transfer to engineering school for petroleum engineering. Jamie Kay Parker is the daughter of James and Deana Parker. Her extracurricular activities include varsity cheer, varsity volleyball, varsity softball, yearbook and Spanish club. She is a concurrent student at Angelina College. Her future plans are to fi nish her prerequisites at Angelina College and go to nursing school at Stephen F. Austin to obtain a BSN specializing in neonatal care. Krystyn Thompson is the daughter of Ronnie and Sherry Thompson. Her extracurricular activities include volleyball, softball, Spanish club and yearbook. She was A/B honor student and a concurrent student. Her future plans are to go to Angelina College to finish her basics and then transfer to Sam Houston State University to pursue her nursing degree. Vanessa Guerrero is the daughter of Juan and Francisca Guerrero. Her extracurricular activities include track, cross country, powerlifting, Spanish club, CNA and phlebotomy. She was on the honor roll for 1 year and a concurrent student. She plans on attending Angelina College her first year then transfer to Lamar University to obtain a nursing degree. Gabriela Gonzalez is the daughter of Juan and Lorenza Gonzalez. Her extracurricular activities include CNA and phlebotomy. Her academic honors are honor roll and she is a concurrent student. She plan on starting her career at Angelina college. Maria Felipe is the daughter of Celso and Ester Felipe. Her extracurricular activities include National Honor Society and is currently secretary, student council, class officer, Spanish club, history club, spirit sprinter, yearbook, homecoming court, Miss CCHS and class favorite. Her academic honors are honor roll and she is a concurrent student. She plans on attending University of Houston for her basics and hopes to graduate with a bachelor in science and continue on to medical school and graduate to be able to work at Texas Children's Hospital with special needs children. Clay Nash is the son of Kaycee Standley and Billy Standley. His extracurricular activities include varsity football, district golf champions, high school fishing champions, 3rd place state fishing tournament in 2013 and 2014. His academic honors include honor roll and he is a concurrent student. Nash plans to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry. Roberto Avila is the son of Ruben and Sonia Avila. His extracurricular activities include book club, Spanish club, friends of the library, art club, yearbook, National Honor Society, cross country, tech team and history club. His academic honors are honor roll, concurrent student, prefect attendance and student of the six weeks. He plans to attend SFA and get his bachelor degree in science and work for Google. Meagan Menifee is the daughter of Alvin Menifee and Seletta Lewis. Her extracurricular activities are volleyball, basketball, track and Spanish club. She is also on the A honor roll. She will start her career in nursing by attending Angelina College then transfer to SFA to finish her career in nursing. Kaeton Morrison is the daughter of Mickey and Julie Guidry and Scott and Lynette Morrison. Her extracurricular activities include cheerleading, GT, track, softball, volleyball and FFA. She is a honor roll student and she plans on attending Texas State University and major in pre-radiation therapy. After graduating there she plans on attending a medical school to obtain a career in oncology. Kade Bentley is the son of Adam and Alyson Baker and Patrick Bentley. His extracurricular activities include golf and fishing. He is a honor student and has graduated with 31 hours of college credit. He plans on attending the University of Mary Hardin Baylor as well as play golf for them, then go to dental school to become a pediatric dentist. Fernando Felipe is the son of Francisco and Patricia Felipe. His extracurricular activities include UIL, science, spelling, math, book club, art club, history club, Spanish club, National Honor Society, friends of the library, year book and tech team. His academics include A honor roll, student of the year and he is a concurrent student. He plans to attend Angelina college for his basics then transfer to University of Houston to pursue a career in technology. Genesis Olige is the son of Zina Thomas. His extracurricular activities include track, cross country, golf, book club, art club, Spanish club and national honors society. He has carried A average through his high school years. He will be attending Angelina College in the fall to receive his basics and then transfer to Lamar University to major in civil engineering. Wyatt Frankens is the son of Keith and Tricia Frankens and the late Vicki Frankens. His extracurricular activities are basketball, baseball, golf, fishing, National Honor Society, student council, class officer and FFA. Wyatt was also a honor roll student for 4 years. He plans to obtain a degree from SFA and major in geology. His goals are to obtain employment in the petroleum/ oil and gas industry. Shaquana Hulett is the daughter of Kimberly Minor and Richard Hulett. Her extracurricular activities are basketball, volleyball and track. Her academic honors are honor student, National Scholastic Language Arts Award and honor classes. She plans to attend UTSA to major in business. While in college she plans to get an internship at a local business to learn the ins and outs of business management until she graduates. Bailey Willson is the daughter of Sam and Shelley Willson. Her extracurricular activities are cross country running and she is a concurrent student at Angelina College She will attend Blinn until she receives her associates degree and then she will transfer to Texas A&M to become a physical therapist. She hopes later to work specifically with special needs. Haden Armstrong is the son of Seven and Chloe Armstrong. His extracurricular activities include varsity football, power lifting, track and baseball. He graduated with honors and is a concurrent student at Angelina College. He will be attending TSTC in Waco and pursue a career in air conditioning and refrigeration. Mason Chamblee is the son of Brad and Angela Purvis and Donald Chamblee. His extracurricular activities include National Honor Society, student council, class officer, regional qualifier in UIL, social studies, regional qualifier in current events and issues, varsity football, varsity golf and Botball team. He is a four year honor student. After graduating he will be attending University of Texas in Austin to get a degree in history. After obtaining his bachelor degree in arts he plans to attend a post graduate university to pursue his law degree. Cintia Castro is the daughter of Leinel and Josefina Castro. Her extracurricular activities include volleyball, track, student council vice president, class officer, history club, Spanish club and yearbook. Her academic honors are track, concurrent student at Angelina College. She plans on attending SFA to get her bachelors degree and then plans on transferring to Texas State University to become a physical therapist.
