The 3rd annual Western Swing Festival arrived in Crockett on Thursday, April 16th. The Swing Festival began with a scrumptious fish fry.
The fish fry was organized by Donnie Colwell, the Master of Ceremonies of Western Swing Festival and his wife Anne Colwell.
The Western Swing followers enjoyed a spread of fried fish, jalapeño hush puppies, fried mushrooms, and coleslaw.
After the dinner, guests enjoyed a wonderful swing performance by Dennis Ivey and Texas Opry Band.
The festival started up again on Friday at 1 p.m. with an opening ceremony presented by Mayor Wayne Mask, Chamber President Jeana Culp and Houston County Judge Lonnie Hunt.
Beginning at 1:30 p.m. Clyde Brewer and the River Road Boys performed, followed by Jody Nix.
The bands then broke for a supper break and the night shows started up again at 7 p.m. with Clyde Brewer and the River Road Boys, with Jody Nix again following at 9 a.m.
Saturday’s performances began at 1:30 p.m. with John England followed by Dennis Ivey and Texas Opry Band at 3:30 p.m.
Again the supper break was from 5–7 p.m. followed by the night performances of John England and Dennis Ivey.
The Western Swing Festival is a three-day western swing music festival that has enveloped many followers across the state of Texas.
“It was interesting to see people from all across Texas whom follow these Western Swing Bands very tenaciously,” said Mrs. Culp.
