I think I love springtime best of all.
When an April shower gives everything a bath.
The grass is green, rich and tall.
The cows have just calved. They’re content with a nursing calf by their side and knee deep in grass. You see baby calves running, jumping and playing without a care in the world. It means new life.
It’s the same with my children and grandchildren, when they come and visit, filling the house with warmth and laughter. It’s new life. I regain my youth and zeal for life through them. “Happy is the man whose quiver is full.”
I know of some parents, grandparents who love only their money, possessions, and a parcel of dirt.
This seems to be their pride and joy, their legacy.
They may be rich with material possessions but they are simply bankrupt when it comes to family.
Your money and your possessions can’t sit in your lap, put its arms around you and tell you it loves you.
The love and memories of your children and grandchildren can sustain you and last forever. Your possessions can’t.
I wouldn’t take $1,000 for my granddaughter’s recent words, “Mom, Dad, you gotta take me to Grandma and Grandpa's. Grandpa needs me to help him feed the cows.”
Live a life that causes your children and grandchildren to love you and want to be around you.
Tell them and show them that they’re loved, wanted and needed.
They’ll give it back to you many times over. They actually need your love and affection more than you need theirs.
Our children are one of the greatest gifts from God that we have.
They are your greatest investment, giving you the greatest return.
