Crash injures deputy

Houston County Sheriff's Office Deputy Buck Carroll was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred on FM 230 about one-mile south of Lovelady on Monday Aug. 25.
The 53-year-old Carroll is on military leave from HCSO while serving the Army National Guard  in Iraq.
According to reports, Carroll was driving a 2006 Honda VTX motorcycle southbound and lost control of the vehicle while attempting to negotiate a curve.
The crash occurred at about 10:40 a.m. and Carroll was transported to ETMC Crockett by ETMC EMS and later air-lifted to a hospital in College Station.
Authorities said Carroll was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. As of press time on Wednesday, Carroll was said to be in stable condition.
Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers Brady Germeroth and Michael Hutcherson, Lovelady Volunteer Fire Department, and HCSO also responded to the call.
