A residence in the 100 block of Maple Street was the scene of an unexplained shooting early Sunday morning July 26.
According to Crockett Police Department reports, officers were dispatched to the residence at 4:50 a.m. to investigate shots being fired at the home.
Two red Ford Explorers were attempting to leave the area when officers arrived and they were detained.
Reports indicate that the shooting stemmed from an incident that occurred earlier in the evening at the Platinum City Club that involved an altercation between two groups of individuals.
After leaving the club on East Goliad Avenue, the suspects reportedly went to a residence located across the street from the home that was fired upon.
Reports indicate the complainant, James L. Patrick, was not involved in the argument earlier in the evening and authorities did not know why his home was struck by the bullet.
Patrick reportedly got in his vehicle and chased after one of the red Ford Explorers and told authorities that when the driver of the Explorer realized he was being followed he turned around and tried to run into him.
Reports indicate that patrick drove back to his home and located a bullet hole in the siding of his home above the wiindow of the bedroom where he and his wife were asleep at the time of the incident.
Both of the detained vehicles were searched but no firearm was found.
There was reportedly another vehicle involved in the incident but it has not been located.
The case remained under investigation as of press time Wednesday morning, July 29.
