Pool claims local youth

The Crockett Police Department is investigating the death of a 6-year-old boy who was pulled from a pool on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 1.
According to a press release issued by CPD, officers were dispatched to the Crockett Inn at 2:38 p.m. and when they arrived on the scene discovered that witnesses had pulled the youth from the pool.
CPR was performed on the child until ETMC EMS arrived on the scene.
The child was transported to ETMC Crockett by ETMC EMS where he was pronounced dead by Houston County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Kathy Bush.
Officials said the case remains under investigation by CPD and the department of family and protective services and additional information would be released when it was available.
CPD did not release the names of the child’s parents or the witnesses who were at the scene.
