No tax increase for CISD

In a special called meeting that lasted about 15 minutes on Thursday, Aug. 13, members of Crockett Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a proposed tax rate of $1.22496 which is no increase from the previous year.
Of the proposed tax rate, $1.04 will be utilized for maintenance and operation while $.18496 will be used for interest and the sinking fund.
Trustees voted to hold the public hearing for the budget and proposed tax rate on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
In other business, it was announced that longtime CISD employee Family and Consumer Science Teacher Roberta Mason would be retiring.
Trustee James Berry was absent from the meeting.
