CPD issues warning
Houston County Courier - August 2009
The Crockett Police Department has issued a statement warning Crockett residents that burglaries of unlocked vehicles continue to be a problem in the city.
“Although some progress has been made in identifying and apprehending some of the perpetrators, we are still receiving reports of unlocked vehicles being burglarized,” the report signed by Police Chief Jimmy Fisher says.
The burglaries are reportedly occurring late at night or in the early morning when people are sleeping.
The perpetrators will enter a neighborhood checking for unlocked cars. When they find an unlocked vehicle they will enter and take anything of value.
CPD is asking that residents keep their vehicles locked while unattended and report any suspicious persons they may see in their neighborhoods.
CPD is also enforcing the city Juvenile Curfew Code.
Curfew in the city of Crockett is from 11 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. Sunday – Thursday and 12 a.m. – 5:30 a.m. Friday – Saturday.
Curfew applies to juveniles under 17 years of age.
