Habitat Taking Applications for House on Dunbar

CROCKETT - Habitat for Humanity of Houston County, Inc., pre-application forms are now available for families interested in determining if they are eligible for the next Habitat house to be built at 1006 Dunbar Street.
To be eligible for this Habitat house a family must meet three criteria including need, ability to pay and willingness to become a partner with Habitat volunteers.
Families that own their own homes do not qualify. To have need a family must live in a situation that is unsafe, unclean or over-crowded.
Income must fall between $12,450. and $38,400. per year for a family of one to five members.
The selected partner family must have the ability to make a down payment and make a monthly mortgage payment of approximately $350 - $400 on a long-term, interest-free loan paid to the local Habitat board.
The selected partner family must also be willing to put in approximately “500 hours of sweat equity” working along side Habitat volunteers.
Pre-application forms can be obtained from any Habitat Board Member Carlton Jones, Johnnie McKnight, Esther Dolphus, Hosea Dolphus, Beverly Davis, Alan Bass, Terri Meadows, Steve Meadows, Gene Harrison or Dorothy Harrison.
Pre-application forms can be obtained from the black box at the Habitat office at 605 Fannin.
Completed Pre-application forms can be placed in the black mailbox at the Habitat office at 605 Fannin or requests for the forms mailed to Habitat, P.O. Box 1233, Crockett, Texas 75835.
Applicants must provide name, address, Social Security number, home, work and cell phone numbers, marital status, monthly expenses, monthly income and individuals who will be living in the Habitat home.
