In a meeting held on Monday night, Aug. 24, members of Crockett City Council approved the $8.6 million 2009-2010 fiscal year budget.
Council discussed at length the issue involving car allowance versus mileage reimbursement for Crockett Police Chief Jimmy Fisher and City Administrator Ron Duncan.
Council voted 3-2 not to consider the proposed options for changes in the policy for mileage reimbursement.
Councilmen Nathan Gardner, Jackie Jones and Ansel Bradshaw voted for the measure. Bradshaw asked that the matter be placed on a future agenda and a study conducted.
Crockett Economic and Industrial Development Corporation Executive Director Tim Culp made a presentation about the history of the entity and outlined in detail the businesses who have benefited from their efforts for the past 13 years.
Council approved the proposed budget for CEIDC for the 2009-2010 fiscal year which was reported to be slightly more than $5 million.
Culp also told council that when the property consisting of 27.45 acres on Loop 304 and South Fourth Street was purchased Eunice Westbrook was allowed to remain in the home for her lifetime. Ms. Westbrook passed away and CEIDC was concerned about upkeep on the house and suggested that Culp and his family move into the home for the same payment of $3,600 year. Culp would be required to keep the home maintained.
