Barton to host town meeting
Houston County Courier
Rep. Joe Barton will host a town hall meeting on Thursday, Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the District Courtroom, second floor of the Houston County Courthouse, 401 East Houston Ave., Crockett. The meeting is part of the congressman’s Listening Tour. He will be hosting town halls in August from Corsicana to Crockett, Midlothian to Mansfield, and many cities and counties in between. “These meetings are a chance for me to update you on the latest things happening in Washington, but most importantly they are a chance for me to listen to you,” Barton wrote in his column this week. “My fellow Republicans and I have re-focused our efforts to put people at the center of our legislative plan. Using the revolutionary website — AmericaSpeakingOut.com, hun-dreds of thousands of people have already shared their ideas. My upcoming town halls are an extension of that effort,” he wrote. Barton has set up firstname.lastname@example.org where citizens share their vision for America’s future. Anyone who can’t attend a town hall meeting is encouraged by the congressman to write him on the white board. “I am hoping we can build on the passion we saw last summer when record crowds came out to my town hall meetings – close to 5,000 overall,” Barton wrote.
