CISD sells old school

The Crockett I.S.D. accepted a $45,000 bid for the former elementary school on South 10th St. on Monday, Aug. 9. Purchaser of the building is the Earl Beard family. Larry Beard represented the family during the negotiations. Superintendent Douglas Moore said the current appraisal for the building and property is about $33,000. School board members expressed regret they could not get a higher price, but also stated concern about the liability of owning the building posed. Board member Deborah Kennedy voted against the sale. In other action, the board considered a proposed tax rate for 2011. Members agreed to $1.04, Maintenance and Operations, and $.22988 Interest and Sinking. Two board members, Johnny Lawrence and Trey Young, voted against the proposed rate. Final adoption of the proposed budget and tax rate will be during the regular meeting on Aug. 30. |
