Crockett School Board
Houston County Courier
During its regular monthly meeting on Monday, July 26, the Crockett I.S.D. Board of Directors approved the 2010-2011 Student Handbook and Code of Conduct. The handbook this year is written for all grade levels. It will be posted online and distributed to students when school starts next month. In other action, the board approved a $1,000 stipend for the district’s UIL coordinator. This is a $500 increase and commensurate with the stipends paid to the high school coordinators in Lovelady I.S.D. and Latexo I.S.D., according to a study by Dr. Douglas Moore. The campus UIL coordinators will be paid stipends of $500, which is a $200 increase. This is commensurate with what Kennard I.S.D. and Latexo I.S.D. pay their campus coordinators. The UIL coaches will be paid a $250 stipend per event. They are currently paid $200 per event (e.g. number sense, ready writing). Moore’s survey indicates Kennard I.S.D. pays its UIL coaches $50 per event and Latexo pays its high school coaches $300 per event. Junior high and elementary coaches in Latexo are paid $250 per event. In Lovelady, the coaches are not paid a stipend but they are given a comp day for the Saturday UIL events are held. Grapeland I.S.D. does not have coordinators or coaches, and pays $250 to each campus, according to the information provided by Moore. In other action, the board agreed to hold a budget workshop on Monday, Aug. 9 at 5:30 p.m. The board went into executive session to discuss personnel issues. Prior to adjourning the meeting, the board voted to accept the personnel recom-mendations as presented in the executive session.
