Local man charged in robbery

Crockett Police Department officers arrested and charged Royester Jones, 43, in connection with the Saturday, Nov. 29 aggravated robbery of the Circle P Food Store located in the 600 block of South Fourth Street.
According to reports, a black male entered the store at about 7:55 p.m. and at knifepoint demanded money from the clerk.
After taking the money, the suspect reportedly fled the store.
CPD initiated an investigation and at 9:15 p.m. CPD officers arrested Jones and transported him to the Houston County Sheriff's Office Jail.
His bond was set at $30,000 and as of press time he remained incarcerated.
An earlier armed robbery of the same store remains under investigation by CPD.
According to reports, in the separate incident that occurred on Thursday morning shortly before 2 a.m., Nov. 27, two black male suspects entered the Circle P Food Store; one man was armed with a handgun.
The suspects reportedly robbed the clerk and fled north on Fourth Street.
CPD spokesman Sgt. Doug Kind said that investigation is ongoing.
