LISD Alumni Return for Career Day

Twenty-one presenters with a multitude of careers spoke to Lovelady High School students during the Career Fair on Wednesday, Dec. 3. Carol Monk, director of student services and Counselor Leslie Gilchrist organized and planned the event.
Occupations represented for the job fair included nursing, welding and agriculture, interior and graphic design, cosmetology, computer engineering, mechanic, pharmacy, photography, criminal justice, civil engineering, banking, college education, catering/food science, dentistry, accounting, law enforcement, fire fighting/EMS and television anchor.
  Out of the 21 guests, eight were Lovelady Independent School District alumni: Roy Mack Goodwin of Lovelady, Welder/Agriculture; Marvin LaRue of Lovelady, Lovelady State Bank; Jaimee Kyle of Crockett, Creative Touch Salon; Molly Collier Abele of Lufkin, Axley and Rode, LLP; Clayton Smith of Crockett, Criminal Investigator; Clint Massingill of Crockett, Narcotics Investigator; Danny Driskell of Lovelady, Bryan Fire Department; and Brad Lane of Cedar Park, Cedar Park Fire Department
Other presenters included Hillarie Matthews RN of Lovelady, Crockett ETMC and Alice Stenstadvold, RN of Lovelady, Huntsville Memorial Hospital; Kelly Bennett of Houston, Art Institute of Houston Recruitment Office; Theresa Roberts of Bryan, A&M Recruitment Office; Byron Smith of Crockett, Auto Quest; Lois Medina of Lovelady, retired pharmacist; Priscilla Updegraff of Houston, Images by Priscilla; Richard Gunnels of Lovelady, Assistant Warden, Estelle Unit; Duane Barrett of Montgomery; R.G. Miller Engineers, Inc.; Courtney Winston of Huntsville, Sam Houston State University, Didactic Program director; Carolyn Huntsman of Lovelady, caterer; Carol Shallenburg of Crockett, caterer/food science; Dennis Gunnels of Lovelady, Dr. Roberts'; Susie Hammons of Crockett, Dispatch Supervisor and Crime Analyst; Taylor Hemness of Lufkin, KTRE anchorman.
Presenters shared information and advice about their professional responsibilities that hopefully will encourage students to pursue a satisfying, lifetime career.
Guests were treated to a breakfast of pastries as they arrived at 8:30 a.m. followed by a selection of hors d' oeuvres at 11:30 a.m. when the fair concluded.
