Authorities respond to assault

On Thursday, Dec. 11 Houston County Sheriff Darrel Bobbitt’s office responded to a call regarding an incident of family violence. 
HCSO Sgt. Roy May was dispatched to a residence located on CR 1500 near Hwy 21 east.
Upon arrival, Sgt. May met with a woman who reported that she was pregnant and her boyfriend assaulted her while she was at his residence located in Country Place Estates.
The woman told authorities during the assault the man had threatened her with a rifle and a knife. 
The woman was taken to ETMC in Crockett for treatment of the injuries she sustained in the assault and suffered a miscarriage.
Arrest warrants were issued for David Eugene Simon, 46, of Crockett for aggravated assault and manslaughter, both second-degree felonies.
Simon was arrested on Saturday, Dec. 20 and transported to the Houston County Sheriff's office Jail. 
Bonds have been set at $30,000 on each charge.
