Burn ban lifted

In a statement released on Tuesday, Feb. 10, Houston County Judge Lonnie Hunt said, “Due to the rain we have received in Houston County, the fire marshal did not recommend extending the temporary burn ban.
“Based on that recommendation, no action was taken by the commissioners court at today's meeting.  Therefore, the temporary burn ban for Houston County will expire at the end of the day Tuesday, Feb. 10.
“The fire danger in Houston County is still elevated just not as severe as it was due to the rain we have received in the last 48 hours. 
“We are still urging citizens of Houston County who find it necessary to conduct any outdoor burning to exercise extreme caution.”
