Judge issues burn ban
Houston County Courier -  February 2009

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3 Houston County Judge Lonnie Hunt issued a burn ban for the county. 
Judge Hunt said, “This action has been taken after consultation with Houston County Fire Marshal David Lamb, the Texas Forest Service, and others.”
The county judge is only authorized to issue a burn ban for a period of seven days. 
To extend it longer requires action of commissioners court. 
Extending the burn ban will be on the agenda for consideration by the commissioners court at the next regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
