Crime Stoppers pays tipsters, offers reward

Houston County Crime Stoppers announced on Thursday, Feb. 5 they were in the process of paying cash rewards totaling $1,170 to anonymous tipsters who reported crime in the county over the past month.
According the HCSS Coordinator H.D. Gresham, the tips were reported both by telephone and through the website at www.545-tips.com.
Gresham said the identity of the tipsters remained unknown and the cash was paid to them through a anonymous system at a local bank.
‘The tipster is given a secret number and instructed to pick up their cash at a local bank. No names or identities are exchanged during the transaction,” Gresham said.
Crime Stoppers also announced they were offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons involved in a burglary that occurred at a residence located at 434 CR 1605, in Crockett
The burglary was reported on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at approximately 4 p.m. and occurred between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Houston County Sheriff Darrel Bobbitt said a safe and a large amount of money was taken from the residence.
