Arrest made in drive-by shooting
Houston County Courier - January 2009
On Wednesday, Jan. 7 Houston County Sheriff Darrel Bobbitt reported that his investigators made an arrest in the drive-by shooting that occurred at Grapeland Coach Paul Veirs’ home on FM 227 East on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
The investigation led to the arrest of Logan Albert Frank 17, of Grapeland.
Frank was charged with deadly conduct, a 3rd degree felony.
Frank was also charged with felony theft relating to a case being worked by the Grapeland Police Department.
Sheriff Bobbitt said that this case was considered high-priority due to the degree of danger involved, including potential loss of life.
The sheriff went on to say that he was glad that no person was injured physically during this incident but there could be emotional scars that last a lifetime.
Sheriff Bobbitt said that everyone should feel safe in their home and should not have to live in fear of this type of criminal act occurring.
“It’s unfortunate that this has happened in our rural county,” said Bobbitt,
“But sadly, our kids are being influenced by this sort of behavior through many different avenues such as television, video games, the Internet, and those moving here from the big cities where violence is more common.”
Sheriff Bobbitt says that his office will aggressively enforce all laws relating to this type of criminal activity or any other type of activity that places the citizens of Houston County in danger
