Latexo Alumni Association Announces "Coming Home Day"

Saturday, Jan. 17, the Latexo Alumni Association hosts Coming Home Day held at the high school cafeteria and gym from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The annual event is held in conjunction with Latexo High School's Homecoming. 
Annuals from the 1930s to 2008 will be on display in the cafeteria as well as old photos and other memorabilia brought by alumni.  Memorial plaques with engraved nameplates are also on display year round. Refreshments of coffee and cookies will be available.
On the program's agenda at 10 a.m. is the recognitions of oldest and youngest graduate, alumna traveling the farthest, classes ending in "9": 2009, 1999, 1989, 1979, 1969, 1959, 1949 and 1939 and past and present faculty will also be recognized.
The Alumni Association has awarded scholarships to two deserving seniors of LHS from 1994-2007.  Past recipients include Rocky Hoch, Charles Burney, Lori Waller, Elizabeth Patton, Amy Barnes, Heather Cook, Brandon Kennedy, Lisa Hunter, Joseph Franks, Amber Lowery, Jeremy Svee, Courtney Terry, Vince Stewart, Yanira Fajardo, Adriann Shoemake, Nicky Graham, Jeremy Lee, Tinsley Duncan, Christina Crow, Traci Goolsby, Kraig Goolsby, Judy Fajardo, Heather Turner, Jessica Bowdoin, Cathy Sandaval, Cassie Anderson, Justin Currie and Nicole Johnson.
Thanks to the extra generosity of Latexo alumni, five scholarships were awarded to 2008 graduates: Emily Baker, Kalie Bridges, Nathan Clark, Jayna Higginbotham and Kylie Smith.
Alumni President David Goolsby, memorial chairman and Mike Goolsby, scholarship chairman will give reports.  Mary Lois Neel will announce the 2009 honoree.
Guest speaker is Jennifer Crow Patton, class of 1986.  She is a nurse by profession, a LISD school board trustee, the wife of Keith Patton and the mother of Kolby and Karson.
From 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. a chili lunch is served by volunteer firefighters at the Latexo Volunteer Fire Department.
