Crockett Area Chamber Banquet Plans To “Raise The Roof”

On Feb. 19 the Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual chamber banquet at the Crockett Civic Center. 
The theme this year is “Raising The Roof.” 
“I am very excited about starting off to a fresh new year, and hope for more bigger and better opportunities for the Crockett area in 2009,” said Chamber President Jeana Brooks.
Local schools have been invited to encourage their students to participate in a centerpiece making competition for the banquet. 
“This is a great way to show off talents of our students in an unusual way, and for them to be recognized”, said Ms. Brooks. 
The centerpieces are to be made of pop cycle sticks or some sort of craft sticks and must resemble a barn.
The menu for the banquet is in the planning process as well as establishing definite prices. There will be corporate tables and individual tickets as there have always been at past chamber banquets. 
The entertainment for the night is a band from the East Texas area, Nearly There.  Ms. Brooks hopes the band will get the dancing citizens of Houston County to raise the roof!
There will be four awards presented throughout the evening.  An award for the Business of The Year will be given, as well as Citizen of The Year, Volunteer of The Year, and Ambassador of The Year. 
 “We hope to have many Houston County residents attending our ‘Raise The Roof’ Banquet,” said Ms. Brooks.
